Skin cell spray gun

Victims of major burn trauma often die due to infections because the skin is the body’s first natural shield against germs and viruses. And when it severely damaged, often it can take weeks or even months for skin to fully recover, which allows a greater chance for harmful pathogens to invade the human body.

But what if there was a way to minimize healing time for burn victims, so that the chances of infection are greatly reduced? The good news is medical technology may have found a way to heal skin dramatically faster with a device called the Skin-cell Gun.

What looks like a contraption out of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Skin-cell Gun is more like an airbrush gun that holds healthy stem cells that were donated from a burn victim’s own healthy skin. Using the device, these healthy stem cells are sprayed onto the burned area of a patient’s body and what happens next is truly amazing. Instead of a burn wound that normally takes weeks to heal, the same wound can be cured in as little as a few days.

Don’t believe me? The following video from National Geographic shows a man that suffered 2nd degree burns over his face and arm when gasoline was thrown on a fire during a July 4th celebration. But thanks to a treatment with the Skin-cell Gun, the burn wounds on his arm were completely healed over the course of a weekend.

The Skin Gun

This is amazing and has way more uses then just burn victims. The future seems to be nearer everyday, however will this actually be implemented mainstream not to mention the cost of it is probably stupidly overpriced...like everything else in the states.

The stem cell has so many things that my father with parkinsons needs too. I hope that they will move ahead with anything on this.

Yes but these are a different type of stem cells and i think mainstream media has led people to believe that they can only be gotten from fetuses. Which is not the case you can get them from fat, skin and im sure other places as well from our own bodies.

Yep! Actually one of the best places to get stem cells is from bone marrow. ;D Unfortunately, I can't view the video because they're racist towards Canadians. But it sounds like a magnificent scientific breakthrough!
Don't mind me, I'm just sailing on a sunrise.

:o Scientists are really making progress these days. There is this new field called plasma medicine, and they managed to save someone who had only hours to live with a completely experimental device.

Since when were stem cells viewed as bad? I've only seen them as good...

Somehow (and unheard of me), and even if people have been deluded and think stem cells are bad, at least hear whatever evidence is there to their claim...
