“Square Music for a Round World” June 1, 2011

Distant Worlds Concert DVD
The live concert recording includes many world premieres of Final Fantasy music scores, including FFXIII and FFXIV. Vocalist Frances Maya premieres Fabula Nova Crystallis (The Promise). Susan Calloway (Distant Worlds I, Distant Worlds II, and FFXIV soundtrack) makes her Tokyo debut singing Nobuo Uematsu’s Main Theme of FFXIV, Answers. Guitar virtuoso Meng-Feng Su performs FF V: Dear Friends and FF IX: Vamo’ alla Flamenco, and the spectacular young pianist Benyamin Nuss, as heard on the recent Symphonic Fantasies concert and recording and on his new Deutsche Gramophone solo CD, makes his Tokyo concert debut performing March of the Dreadnoughts from FFXIII, Those Who Fight from FFVII, and Love Grows from FF VIII.
The set contains songs from the Distant Worlds II official album within one it’s 3 disks – One DVD and 2 audio CD’s. What sets the difference between this version of the music and the album version is that NONE of these songs are digitally remastered – what you hear here is what you hear from a live recording without the computer re-mastering the tracks themselves. The DVD for the concert itself and 1 disk for Distant Worlds I tracks. What’s the last CD? It includes some songs (but not all) from the Distant Worlds II album. Well worth the price of purchase for lovers of the music and collectors.
Also included is also an art book of high quality of the concert Distant Worlds:Returning Home from the concert in Japan. There is also a bonus track in the DVD about the background productions of Distant worlds in Japan itself during its Returning Home Concert.

Video of Music

Following the release of the phone game, Square Enix released the Chaos Rings Original Soundtrack for digital download. According to one of the game’s assistant producers, Hiroaki Iwano, the soundtrack was released primarily due to popular demand. It is the first time that Square had released an OST for an iOS game.
Noriyasu Agematsu composed the music of Chaos Rings, and had previously composed for the video game Wild Arms 5 in addition to various anime series. His recent works have included soundtrack for White Knight Chronicles game and the concert Tasogare.
Agematsu is a founder and member of the Elements Garden group of composers. Elements Garden is a Japanese group of music composers, or a “music production brand” as they call themselves. They generally produce music for video games, anime and recording artists. See below to listen to their current compilation CD.

The game takes place in a mysterious place known as Ark Arena, where participants face enemies in both dungeons and tournament-play to avoid death and gain immortality. Chaos Rings features four scenarios. Each scenario is played by two different story characters and across several worlds, ending with a boss battle.

Sound Bits
  • Interview with Nier song writer Emi Evans “There was a lot of guessing and bouncing ideas off each other involved and sometimes the arrangement would`ve changed and Mr Okabe would say- »Sorry, actually I need an extra verse and chorus here » so mid recording I would have to sit down, hurriedly write an new chunk of lyrics and record them right away.
  • Kingdom Hearts fans who are members of our forums there is a number of new changes we are doing. Nikolasvanitas is our webmaster for the section and has posted ton of a lot of new threads. We are also adding special theme for you guys in there too this month.
  • Note from Yoko Shimomura on “The 3rd Birthday”.. is a title about Aya Brea from Parasite Eve. I helped compose the music and it was really a great honor. While thinking of the nuance of the previous song, looking at how my own style has and hasn’t changed over the last 10 years, and while thinking I wanted to write a “cool” and “hot” song, I wrote this. Please enjoy “The 3rd Birthday”, which the three of us worked to deliver, as you play the game.
