Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (who collaborated with Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu on the Chrono Trigger soundtrack) Myth: The Xenogears Orchestral Album includes tracks voted on by fans, with Mitsuda making the final calls. While most Square soundtracks follow up with an orchestral arrangement very quickly, the arranged version of Xenogears was actually the striking “Creid,” which blended Celtic rhythms and Gaelic lyrics with the poppy Japanese style of the arrangements.
In recent years, Mitsuda has focused on composing for various DS titles. He has single-handedly scored Deep Labyrinth, Soma Bringer, and Inazuma Eleven while leading the teams of Luminous Arc, World Destruction, and The Masquerade Lullaby Mitsuda has also developed his company Procyon Studio into one of the leading game audio specialists in Japan. His company is especially well known for their innovative sound design for the DS and Wii, though have also expanded to include two new composers. Mitsuda’s upcoming works are Arc Rise Fantasia, Lime Odyssey, further Inazuma Eleven titles, and the Chrono Cross arranged album.(SEMO Profile)
Thirteen years have passed since the game was released; I am very glad the people have loved and continue to love it. I think my growth at that has been small. But now, my perspectives of music are greater than ever. With that and my new perspectives, I decided to create a Xenogears album to find out what those thirteen years of time holds. If I re-make the album with my current feelings, what will all the fans think about it? With these questions in mind, I decided to return the favour to everyone, even if just by a little, and eventually, created this album.
When listening to this Xenogears album, I hope everyone will recall fond memories and thoughts of the world of this work.I’d be grateful if everyone continues to love this work. Nothing else would make me happier. So this work may become everyone’s myth, thus I named this album “MYTH”.

Humans and Gears was a lengthy undertaking. The project began in the summer of 2006. Many Xenogears arrangement albums have been released in the past. The albums tries to re-envision the soundtrack in a new yet familiar way. We set out to create two unique albums in one. The first album features songs with a focus on natural elements and a “Human” touch. The second album is dark in tone and electronic in texture, symbolizing the fear and destruction of “Gears.” Artists were given complete creative freedom to express and re imagine the game in a new sonic format. We hope the listeners relive part of the amazing story and music that is Xenogears through this album. Thank you to all of the artists for your hard work and relentless dedication towards completion of this wonderful project. (source: ocremix.org)
