Dissidia 012 [Duodecim]
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy (ディシディア デュオデシム ファイナルファンタジー Dishidia Duodeshimu Fainaru Fantajī) is the prequel to Dissidia Final Fantasy. It is currently in development for the PlayStation Portable and it will be released in Japan on March 3, 2011; in North America on March 22, 2011; Europe on March 25, 2011; and sometime later in Spring 2011 for the rest of the world.
A short look at some Features from the new Dissidia game
Gameplay
It will be very similar to the first Dissidia Game, featuring all of the original gameplay elements, characters and arenas. Fighters will attack to steal Bravery from opponents, which increases their own, as a character lands Bravery attacks. By collecting EX Force characters can enter EX Mode, boosting their strength, adding exclusive abilities and letting them execute EX Bursts similar to Limit Breaks. New summons, arenas, music tracks and characters will be included. The new gameplay improvement and feature is the Assist system, which allows characters to call an ally into battle to attack, allowing new combos to be created by chaining the moves of two characters in different fashions. The Assist system acts as a counterbalance mechanic to the EX Mode system, as landing an Assist attack can deplete the opponent’s EX gauge. One of the Assist characters is Aerith from Final Fantasy VII. Director Mitsunori Takahashi talked about the assist exclusive character and what makes her so special.
There’s a whole lot more to Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy than just fighting as your favorite Final Fantasy characters. For the PSP sequel, Square Enix has added a bunch of new modes that will expand the play experience even further. Party Battles, MogWeb, Quest Creation, RPG Play Options and much more.
ORIGINAL QUESTS
The new Original Quest mode lets you create customized quests. You can give your creations a name, add multiple battles and between-battle events.
Battles can be chosen to be round-based or elimination style. You can specify precise conditions for victory — things like “win within 3 minutes,” for instance. You can also create original rules, making it easier to build up your EX gauge and increasing critical hit rates, for instance. These original rules, incidentally, can be applied outside of the Original Quest mode.
For events, you can set the background, background music, and even choose character icons for dialogue boxes. Some of the icons shown in Famitsu look like the original Final Fantasy sprite art. The magazine suggests attempting to recreate scenarios from the original source material.
You have access to a Test Play button from the edit screen, so seeing how well your creation works should be easy.
MOGWEB
MogWeb is tied into quest creation in that it can be used to download and upload quests. You can search for user uploaded quests by popularity or arrival order. You can also choose to exchange quests with a particular friend by first exchanging the 12 digit friend code that’s visible at the bottom of the MogWeb interface screen. By publishing your friend code online, other players will be able to search for your quests and download them.
PARTY BATTLE
Party Battle is a free battle mode where you form a five member party and face off against another five member party. You can set each of your characters with a job, which changes their abilities. These types of party battles will also appear in the game’s story mode at times.
In an Interview director Mitsunori Takahashi said that Party Battle was implemented with the goal of allowing players to create their dream party combinations. You can even give your creation a name, he noted. Your “Friend Card” player data card can have this party attached to it.
RPG Play Options And Dungeons
Dissidia Duodecim also features RPG-like elements as an experience system, the option for command-based controls, and character customization options that include abilities, items, accessories, summons and assist character. The game also has a difficulty setting for Story Mode. You access dungeons from gates that you find on the fields. The dungeons take the form of the board-like gameplay system from the first Dissidia, where you move about on a board and start off battle once you make contact with an Imitation enemy. As you explore RPG mode’s world map, you’ll come upon gates known as “Warps” or “Distortions.” These take you to dungeons, which are played out in the board-like fashion of the original Dissidia. Your goal is to reach the goal point at the end of the dungeon. Along the way, you’ll encounter enemies, treasure boxes and conversation scenes with allies.
Characters
All twenty-two playable characters in the original Dissidia will return. In addition to the original roster, eight new characters have been announced: Kain from IV, Lightning from XIII, Tifa from VII, Vaan from XII, Laguna from VIII, Yuna from X, Prishe from XI, and Gilgamesh from V. Aerith from VII is to be included as an Assist character for people who buy the demo, Dissidia Duodecim Prologus. The Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy official site gets always updated with new screens EX videos and Third Forms.
