“I have been in music all my life.

I started playing music age two and went on to win many competitions in classical violin. On the side, my recreation was video games. Especially the Final Fantasies.[...] When I was 16 I decided I wanted to write music for games one day, and started composing furiously at the piano with that goal in mind. I started writing songs. I started to sing. My immediate goal changed to becoming a singer/songwriter, even though I still want to write a game score someday.”

Kate Covington, better known by her internet name katethegreat19, is an aspiring singer/songwriter who has made several unofficial vocal arrangements of themes of the music of the Final Fantasy series.

Kate performs and arranges her work all by herself, able to play the violin, the piano, the lyre, the guitar and several types of drums. Whenever the theme she covers lacks lyrics, she writes them herself, keeping carefully in mind the mood and atmosphere of the tune. Her equipment includes a simple vocal microphone, a closet (as her “dead room”, which she had recently renovated to become a sound-proof recording studio) and the Sony Acid music studio software. Kate has never received any sort of vocal training.

Kate, under an undisclosed stage name, is to release her first original album sometime after the spring of 2010.
